Hello!
We’ve been meaning to send regular communications for some time, but have been so busy creating WHIRLD that we’ve only managed to keep up with intermittent posts on social media. So, if you’re not on one of these platforms you may have been wondering ‘what in the WHIRLD is going on’ since we launched our fundraising campaign in March. The answer is – rather good actually – and we’re on track for releasing WHIRLD Part 1 very, very soon! Further details below…
It’s been quite exciting this past week – we received our first ‘Official Selection’ into a web festival – Sydney Web Fest – and will find out in coming weeks if we have successfully received any awards as part of this program.
We also wish to send our apologies to those who are still awaiting their Pozible campaign rewards. We were hoping to deliver these directly to you sooner, but covid lockdowns have prevented us from being able to do this and so we aim to get these in the mail to you soon.
In recent weeks we’ve had Principal Sponsorship for WHIRLD taken up by the lovely Karen Meiring de Gonzalez from Skin Correctives, Shellharbour and Wollongong. This has made a significant impact, allowing us to continue with post production and keep on schedule for the September release. Wollongong Pilates Studio and Ravon Productions have also both taken up Silver Sponsorships and Gryffin Opal has become our second official Platinum Sponsor. Gryffin Opal have also promised to deck us out at any award ceremonies we might attend – so we are seriously hoping to have this opportunity! We are so very grateful to the many local businesses who have contributed to our project, either by direct or in kind payment, particularly at a time when so many are in lockdown.
We are more than disappointed at having to cancel our cast, crew and sponsor preview, planned for the 23 September. We will, however, be extending a special invitation to cast, crew, sponsors and supporters who were ticket holders for this event, to attend a special online presentation hosted by Screen Illawarra. Please keep your eyes out for an eventbrite invitation only for this pre-release broadcast event, followed by a WHIRLD Q&A panel. We are still hoping to hold a celebration event to view the whole series together, as soon as lockdown concludes.
